A Satisfactory Stay
Joseph S. from Greenwood, AR, United States, (Reviewed on 16 Aug 2009)
The unit was nice enough. There was no TV in the second bedroom, and the internet was not Wi-Fi. A dehumifier in the unit would have helped, as the floors were often slick. All that said, the room was clean (the vacuum cleaner didn't work, now that I think of it), and spacious. The kitchen was adequate for our needs. The room was quiet enough to allow us to sleep. All in all, it was fine, we were satisfied, and would consider asking for it again if we were going back.

The only thing to me that needed to be worked on is the elevators - everytime people were on there they were complaining about how hot and stuffy they were you may want to see if you can get some air conditioning pumped in there.
Cooking Utensils
A Traveler from San Antonio, TX, United States, (Reviewed on 22 Jun 2009)
I would ask the owner to take an inventory of the cooking utensils to include a vehicle to sharpen knives or even upgrade them. Other units within your building have had nicer and a more varied complement of items--overall a minor complaint.
Islander stay
Dwayne S. from McDonough, GA, United States, (Reviewed on 22 May 2009)
There was construction on the pool that prohibited use. The construction crew was mixing cement in the front of the property near the parking lot. The cement mixing process caused numerous small particles of cement to be put on cars in the parking lot. I was VERY upset about the construction crews' courtesy while I was loading my luggage. My car not only had cement particles on the outside, it got in the insde as well because as I was loading they would not STOP mixing cement. Needless to say, I had choice words for the construction crew. I had a newborn baby with me that got cement particles all over her! Other than that incident as I was leaving, everything else was fine.
Disappointed
Larry S. from Greenville, IL, United States, (Reviewed on 03 Feb 2009)
We were disappointed in our unit. It was very shabby compared to our friend's next door 7008. All 4 of us could not sit on the balcony - because the table and 3 chairs were so rusty. We asked if we could get a couple of plastic chairs for the week - and were told they didn't have any extras. According to the comments in the book - the table and chairs had been rusty since last May. We understand that the unit is for sale but if it is to be rented - there needs to be at least 4 chairs to sit on in the balcony.

There was also a little pictures missing from the bathroom off the master bedroom - just wanted to let you know so it wasn't taken off our deposit.

Unit 7009, August 2008
A Traveler from Baton Rouge, La, United States, (Reviewed on 28 Aug 2008)
The DVD player did not work, the balcony furniture was rusted and mildewed, the decor was tacky. The unit is in a great location, but the owners have not put much effort into its appearance. I would recommend the Islander, but not unit 7009.
Complex Great! Condo needs updating!

Overall a very nice condo but compared to others very outdated. The couch is extremely uncomfortable and the dividers between the cusions awful. Very 60's. Owners need to invest a litte money in LR decor.Yellow chairs in living room comfortable but showing wear and tear but couch needs to go.Remote in living room would not allow channel changes. Need new furniture on balcony, rusted. Lamp next to bed in Master did not work, no back up bulbs to see if this was the issue. Chair/umbrella service great! Rental company great!!Very nice, professional and accomodating. Coupons a plus. For the price paid it would be nice to at least have hangers in the closet, a very basic need and something the owners should be able to afford even at the dollar store. Most condos offer at least some other basics, small packet of laundery detergent, roll of paper towels. Otherwise a nice stay, I would recommend the building but not that particular condo. The one next door was beautiful, hope to stay there next time.
The condo was dirty, and all linen had to be washed before using. All dishes and silverware also had to be washed before using, this is unthinkable considering the amount charged per day.

Everything very good except patio furniture. It is deplorable.

The property manager was GREAT! I had car trouble the morning of checkout and she was very helpful. I have stayed at the Islander many times and have always enjoyed my stay. This particular unit was my least favorite. The TV remote control did not work, the furniture was not very comfy, and we did have to wonder what animals had been in those cages. I will recommend this property and will return every chance I get. Give my thanks to your property manager.
Islander -- The Best Place to Stay at Fort Walton Beach
Warren R. from Newburyport, MA, United States, (Reviewed on 16 Jun 2008)
Mere words cannot express how much I enjoyed staying at The Islander at Fort Walton Beach. Everything was perfect, and perfectly clean, too, which made for a very relaxing stay. Except for a balky TV remote, which probably just needed new batteries, everything was magnificent. I loved being on the top floor, enjoying the great view and the beautiful beach with its powder-white sand. Thank you!

I was disappointed in the rusty furniture on the patio. It wasn't at all user friendly. A couple of lamps had burned out bulbs and the TV remote in the living area didn't work.

Loved it
Michael M. from Lithia Springs, GA, United States, (Reviewed on 01 May 2008)
I have stayed at the Islander for several years as I attend a weekend bowling tournament. Last year we brought my mom and she fell in love with the place. We will probably be making reservations in the next few weeks to stay a full week instead of just 3 days.

Not the worst, but a long way from the best for the dollar.
A Traveler from Greenville, KY, United States, (Reviewed on 09 Apr 2008)
Check in was a really long wait. You were handed a lot of papers and other stuff, some of which wasn't explained and none of it contained. On way out dropped the video card that I didn't even know I had and was charged for it at check-out. Found it on arrival home between car seats and did get my money back finally. A nasty bird cage in living room really turned me off!!! Overall cleaniness of condo wasn't too good. I cleaned up before unpacking.
