Our experience at the Islander was wo nderful. The only negative thing was the chair attendant on Weds & Thurs put the chairs and umbrellas too close together. You dont want to sit very close to people you dont know, the guy who did it Mon & Tues spaced the chairs out comfortably, we appreciated the difference immensely. It really makes a difference and means a lot when you spend 4 to 6 hours outside. Other than that, it was a wonderful property to stay at.

Spring Break Trip Islander 4006

The view from the balcony was very nice, but I was not pleased with the unit. The toaster was dirty and rusty and the blender had to be cleaned before we could use it. I could not believe the second bedroom did not have a chest of drawers for our clothes and did not have a television. It rained all week long and we were in the room more than we had planned so we had to give the master bedroom to our children so they could watch TV. We were on the 4th floor directly above the pool which I did't think would be a problem because the pool was supposed to close at 10 PM but there were always loud groups of people in the pool area until midnight most nights. Our room was located directly across from the stairs and elevators which was convenient, but every night there were kids playing with the elevators and screaming down the elevator shafts. I felt safe at the property, but I would like to have seen someone walk around night to discourage this type of behavior. I would probably stay at The Islander again, but I would not stay in this unit again.

My wife and I always enjoy coming to that area. we used to stay in Destin, but i like the Fort Walton area better. we will be back annually.

We totally enjoyed our stay at the Islander. Condo units were clean and well cared for. Our experience with Brooks & Shorey was great. The people who helped me with reservations were great and very patient with all of my questions and trying to book all of our rooms together. I really like the web page, being able to see the rooms and what rooms are available is extremely helpful. I appreciate Brooks & Shorey helping with accomodations that were suitable for our church bus and trailer. Some places won't allow for that. We will most definetly work with them again next year!!

I had room GD407 reserved at Gulf Dunes but when I went into the room there was an awful smell. I went down stairs and told the Manager who called housekeeping. Meantime I went back to the room and started looking for the source of the odor and found black mold over the shower head and along the wall seams. Housekeeping and the manager came up and he got me this room at the Islander.The rugs in front of the sofa and loveseat and under the dining room table were filthy. The rug on the balconey was also. The sofa and loveseat were so old and so dirty that I covered them with the sheets for the sofa sleeper so that I could have a place to sit. This place needs upgrading worse than any room I have ever been in.

Overall, we were very pleased. The only downside was the location of the suite, which was right over the swimming pool, and the screaming little kids was a bit hard to take at times.

Islander Memorial Day

The location is great, right on the beach. The rooms in the condo are rather small compared to others we have stayed in on Okaloosa Island. There is no place to put your suitcase if you do not want to unpack into the drawers in the Master Bedroom. Needs some color to brighten the place up. The master bath is just all white (and needs paint touch up on top of that). Both elevators went out when we were there so we had to take the stairs with all of our stuff until they got them fixed. Great location, but definitely needs some updating! A bit expensive for the condition it is in.
PERFECT LOCATION AND FAMILY FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE. I NEVER WORRIED ABOUT MY KIDS WHEN THEY WERE NOT RIGHT UNDER MY FEET. THE VIDEO RENTAL WAS A NICE TREAT TO GET THEM TO SETTLE DOWN AT NIGHT.
