Universal Studios, Orlando, Florida
Fun for the whole family!
With its high-tech, thrilling Universal Studios theme park,
Universal in Orlando Florida has given Walt Disney World major
competition with rides like Back to the Future, Terminator
2: 3-D, Jurassic Park River Adventure, the Amazing Adventures
of Spider-Man and Dueling Dragons. The sophisticated Universal
City Walk is filled with unique shopping, clubs and restaurants.
While Walt Disney World is still Orlando Florida’s
#1 tourist attraction, Universal Studios is catching up fast
– especially after the addition of the 110 Island of
Adventures park in 1999. In fact many adults and older children
consider Universal Studios a superior attraction to the dated
Walt Disney World.
Universal’s 400+ acre complex is a massive theme park
filled with high-tech rides, actual working movie and television
studios, high class shopping and entertainment areas, and
reproductions of cities like New York and San Francisco.
Universal Orlando is divided into 3 distinct areas: Universal
Studios (the original movie theme park and rides), Islands
of Adventures (new high tech thrill rides) and City Walk (first
class shopping, restaurant and club complex).
The original Universal Studio theme park features 6 real
working movie and television studio sets. In between filming,
the studio allows tram tours of these sets as well as simulated
live action multi media shows highlighted by first rate Terminator
2: 3-D, Funtastic World of Hanna Barbera and the Gory, Gruesome
& Grotesque Horror make-up show. But, the real attractions
at Universal Studios are the hi-tech rides including Back
to the Future, Earthquake, Jaws, Men In Black – Alien
Attack, E.T. Adventure, Kongfrontation, and Woody Woodpecker’s
Nuthouse Coaster.
Opened in 1999, the very popular new Islands of Adventure
theme park has created a buzz for taking hi-tech rides to
a whole new level. Major attractions in this park include
the Incredible Hulk Coaster, Jurassic Park River Adventure,
Dueling Dragons roller coaster, Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw
Falls, Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge Rat Barges, the Storm
Accelerator, Dr. Seuss’ Caro-Seuss-El and the Amazing
Adventures of Spider-Man – which many consider the best
ride in the world.
Five times larger than Disney’s Pleasure Island, the
ultra-sophisticated 30-acre Universal City Walk is filled
with unique shopping, clubs and restaurants. Highlights include
Emeril Lagasse’s four star restaurant, a massive NBA
City sports bar, a Bob Marley reggae restaurant and nightclub,
Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, the Latin Quarter featuring
salsa cuisine and entertainment, Pat O’Briens from New
Orleans, the Motown Café featuring great barbeque food
and Motown classics and a NASCAR café filled with incredible
memorabilia.
