Key West, Florida
Quaint charms of the Key West region in Florida!
A small and charming island at the southernmost tip of Florida,
Key West has all of the charm of the Caribbean with the comforts
of America. Featuring a gem of a historic town ideal for walking
(and drinking at the numerous open air cafes and bars), Key
West also contains top fishing, boating, scuba and snorkeling
and Florida’s best sunsets.
Located only 90 miles north of Cuba, Key West is a unique
island with a spirited history and a charming historic town
center. For most of the 19th century, Key West was one of
the richest cities in the U.S. As a result, the town center
and side streets are a treasure trove of historic buildings
best seen by bicycle or Conch Tour Trains that run every hour.
Other great attractions include the Ernest Hemingway Home
and Museum, the Mel Fisher Maritime Heritage Museum (featuring
the treasure of a recovered Spanish galleon) and Harry S.
Truman’s Little White House Museum.
Key West is also famous for its Duval Street (the Bourban
Street of Florida) and its legendary bars like Sloppy Joe’s,
Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Café, the Hogs
Breath Saloon, Captain Tony’s Saloon, and the Green
Parrot just to name a few. Featuring live music, cheap drinks
and amazing street performer, Duval Street is a never ending
carnival of activity.
Key West is also famous for beautiful sunsets and there are
several fantastic outdoor bars to watch the sun set and hear
live music.
Beyond the bar scene on Duval Street and Mallory Square,
Key West is awash with quaint side streets filled with art
galleries, cute boutiques and first class restaurants with
fine outdoor terraces.
